Colour: red
Habitat: common all over the rocky shore
Facts:
- Has a ring of blue warts around the top of their body column that can only be seen when the tentacles are fully extended
- These anemones can tolerate a wide range of conditions with varying salinity and temperature
- Beadlet anemones reproduce by spitting out perfect baby anemones which float around until they are able to attach themselves to a rock
- Grey sea slugs and tompot blennies feed on sea anemones and are immune to their stings
- Beadlet anemones extend their tentacles when submerged by the sea and withdraw them when the tide retreats. In our tanks the anemones sometimes retract their tentacles even though they are still covered in water, this means they have fed and are digesting their food
