Scientific name: Cilitia mustela (Five Bearded)
Gaidropsarus meditrraneus (Shore)
Size: Up to 25cm long
Habitat: Rocky shores, in rock pools or under rocks
- If you hear a large splash when in a rock pool, it’s probably a Rockling.
- They are very slippery and hard to catch, so be careful not to damage them when trying to grab them.
- The Five Bearded Rocklings can be distinguished by the five “whiskers” on their face, while a Shore Rockling only has three whiskers.
