Common Prawn
Scientific name: Palaemon serratus
Size: Up to 10cm long, usually much smaller
Colour: Transparent with black, blue and yellow markings
Habitat: Rocky shores, in rock pools
Facts:
- They are the largest prawns in Britain!
- They use their strong tail to jump out of buckets and hands, so make sure you don’t drop them.
- They are eaten by many species of fish.
- They mostly scavenge for small pieces of dead food and anything else other animals leave behind.
