Broad-clawed Porcelain Crab
Scientific name: Porcellana platycheles
Size: Up to 1.5cm across the shell
Habitat: Rocky shores, under rocks
- The main body of the crab is actually quite small, but the extremely wide claws make it look bigger.
- They feed by filtering plankton and other edible materials out of the water.
- Due to their small size, colouring and hairy claws, they can be quite hard to spot.Photo Credit: Paul Naylor
